Jean Paul Gaultier joins forces with the La Liga club Real Madrid and the France national team striker Karim Benzema for a re-edition of the brand’s iconic eyewear. The model 56-6106 of the 90s, worn by icons such as 2Pac, were selected from the brand’s archives by “KB9”. Collaborate with Karim Benzema, Jean Paul Gaultier pays tribute to a new generation of virtuosos who express themselves in a daring way, who do not hesitate to break from convention to achieve their goals additionally shaking up the status quo.
The most visually-striking feature of the sunglasses are the three-line arms, with two sets of rotating coils, and finally extending into Mazzucchelli acetate tortoiseshell components, which is very eye-catching. Iconic motifs such as the Gaultier branding is engraved on the bridge. The footballer’s “KB9” motif has also been engraved into the temples alongside a unique serial number, further denoting the sunglasses’ rarity.
Available in three colorways: “Gold/Green,” “Black/Black” and “Silver/Purple, each colorway is limited to just 500 units. At present, we can see they are all “SOLD OUT” on JPG’s website and Dover Street Market London’s online store.
