FLEYE Copenhagen Presents Nordic Light Signature Collection For SS20

With a modern take on the Skagen Painters, a renowned Danish icon from the 19th century, FLEYE Copenhagen has created a Signature collection that captures the painters’ fabulous composition of colors and light. The Skagen Painters were a group of Scandinavian artists, who settled in the village of Skagen, the northernmost point of Denmark, to portray the remarkable light and scenery.

Reflecting on the iconic Skagen paintings, FLEYE came up with their own inspirational artwork by experimenting with various materials with different characteristics; solid, transparent, glossy and liquid, to see how the surfaces interacted with each other and with light. These stunning abstract artworks, captured by still life photographer, Ida Emilie Risager, led to the new designs for the Nordic Light Signature collection. Design concepts such as transparency, depth and structure have been applied to create the collection using a varied selection of materials, from light acetates, to warm carbon/ wood and fine beta-titanium. Each frame becomes its own artistic expression when textures are combined, colors are chosen, and reflections are created. In the coming opti fair, Fleye is going to introduce 40 new Signature eyewear and sunglasses styles exploring color contrasts, beautiful reflections and the remarkable Scandinavian light.

The Signature collection consists of 20 matching sets with one optical and one sunglasses frame in a set – linked through shape, material and attitude.
