The Hong Kong International Optics Fair, held in November every year, is a key event for the optical industry in Asia and it is also a stepping stone for overseas brands to enter the Asian market. Despite the challenges Hong Kong has been facing recently, everyone upholds the spirit “The show must go on” and it successfully opened on November 6 and ended on the 3rdday. The fair organizer stepped up supporting measures and made great effort to invite buyers from all over the world, in order to facilitate business activities at the exhibition. The VOS pavilion organized by V.MAGAZINE, as always, has attracted about 60 eyewear designer brands from different regions, presenting original statement eyewear that can leave deep impression on visitors’ mind. Scandinavia style came back again this year and created atmosphere of simplicity and minimalism.
As in previous years, VOS dinner plus V.AWARD ceremony was held on the second day of the Hong Kong Optical Fair. Held in Dragon Gown in Sun Hung Kai Centre in Wan Chai, the event invited representatives from brands, retail stores, eyewear media and national industry trade organizations. This year we had special VIPs – Design Fan, a newly established team consists of Chinese eyewear designers and Mr. Feng Kehua, the father of Glasses in Hong Kong, who was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award at the event. Nearly 200 guests were invited to the dinner and they witnessed the winners of V.AWARD 2019.
V.AWARD rewards innovative eyewear design with an inner value on quality, originality and profession. Outer value – stylistic performance is not to be missed. Honorable jury panel is constituted by Cristina Frasca, chief editor of LYF (Italy), Kevin Siew, CEO of Eyez Optometry Holdings Sdn Bhd (Malaysia), Coleman Wai, Lecturer of Central Academy of Fine Arts & Eyewear designer (Hong Kong), Kelvin Tsui, Founder of Ocular Plus (Hong Kong) and also Editorial team of V.MAGAZINE HK & V.MAGAZINE Japan.
